What is Taekwon-do

Taekwon-do is the scientific use of the mind and body in the method of self defence.
Translated from Korean, Taekwon-Do literally means the following.
TAE – Means to jump, kick or smash with the foot.
KWON – Means to punch or destroy with the hand or fist.
DO – Means art, way or method.
Therefore Taekwon-Do means the art of foot and hand
Taekwon-Do was brought to the UK in 1967 after being developed by Major General Choi Hong Hi 9th Degree for many years, it wasn’t until 1955 his studies were combined to form Taekwon-Do as we know it today.

Taekwon-do can benefit many people in many different ways, all lessons encourage the students to improve confidence, self control, perserverance, flexibility, courtesy, strength, stamina and much much more.
